| The entry below is from The Virtual Wall. On 24 Sep 1966, Golf Company, 2/7 Marines, was one of the units involved in Operation Prairie in Quang Tri Province just south of the Demilitarized Zone. While moving through an unfamiliar area, the company came under intense mortar, machine-gun and sniper fire from what was later estimated to be a North Vietnamese regiment. By the time the fighting ended, Golf 2/7 had lost ten men, and Fox 2/7 two more: |
