| All the above pictures were taken the morning of March 19, 1969 by Tony Poole. This was the scene of my first firefight. It took place the night before. Two choppers were shot down trying to get the wounded out. In the picture directly above, on the left, is the first one shot down. It dropped down on a gook and killed him. The little dead, leafless tree on the bottom right marks about where my rocket team's position was that night. In spite of all the years that had gone by I recognized the place at once. |
