Gas stop at the Route 66 Casino west of Albequerque.

Just before the New Mexico state line we were picked up by the NMHP and
escorted across the entire state.  As we approached an interchange they would
block it off until we passed.  We had the whole interstate to ourselves.
Angel Fire, New Mexico.  This was one of the first Vietnam memorials in the US.
It is located just north-east of Taos.  It was created by a doctor whose son, a
helicopter pilot, was killed in a crash.
This was our greeting when we pulled into Raton, NM.  The local American
Legion put on dinner for us.  A lot of the towns we went through put up signs for
us and it was common for people to line the streets to greet us.
